Val Gardena from the Coffin Cable Car, 2026 this original artwork captures the breathtaking view over Val Gardena from the iconic coffin cable car ascending Sassolungo in the heart of the Italian Dolomites. Inspired by a photograph taken by my son during his hiking adventure, this piece reflects the dramatic beauty experienced on the ascent to Forcella Sassolungo from Passo Sella.

The old “coffin lift,” with its distinctive single-person cabins, offers one of the most striking panoramas in the Dolomites. Towering vertical rock faces rise sharply above sweeping alpine meadows, creating a powerful contrast between rugged limestone formations and vibrant green pastures below. That interplay of texture, light, and colour became the heart of this painting.
